Dad stole from church and broke into school

A dad-of-four who stole nearly €2,000 from a church as well as breaking into a special needs school has been jailed for five months.

James Byrne (41), of Brookview Drive, Tallaght, admitted before Tallaght District Court to charges of burglary as well as theft.

Byrne stole €1,952 from St Kevin's Church, Treepark Road, Kilnamanagh, on September 8 last year. He also broke into St Mary's National School, Greenhills Road in Tallaght on September 20 and damaged the front window to the Ashling Nursery, Main Road, Tallaght, on September 15.

He further broke into the ABACAS special needs school for children with autism on September 13. Judge John Coughlan sentenced Byrne to five months in prison.
