A FATHER-of-three caught with cannabis hidden in his bedroom has been sentenced to five months in prison.
Anthony Warner (26) claimed he had "a light-bulb moment" and stopped smoking cannabis following the premature birth of his youngest child.
The matter was before the court for sentencing after a judge ordered a probation report. Judge John Coughlan sentenced Warner to five months in prison.
The defendant previously admitted before Tallaght District Court to possession of cannabis as well as having the drug for sale or supply.
Garda David Morris said he obtained a search warrant and searched Warner's home at Ellensborough Lodge in Tallaght shortly after 7am on August 26, 2011.
Garda Morris said that four glass jars containing cannabis were found in a wardrobe in Warner's bedroom. The street value of the drug was €1,300.
The court heard Warner has 11 previous convictions, mostly for road traffic and drug-related matters.
Defence solicitor John O'Leary said that Warner fully co-operated with gardai and admitted the cannabis belonged to him.
