THIS is the young woman who repeatedly kicked out at gardai after she took a "cocktail of drugs" following news that her grandmother was terminally ill.
Joanne Hand (23) was high on cannabis and valium when she tried to bite a female officer who was arresting her for her own safety.
She was before the court for sentencing after a judge ordered a probation report.
Judge Patrick McMahon ordered Hand to enter into a 12-month probation bond.
The defendant, of Parlickstown Gardens in Mulhuddart, had admitted before Blanchardstown District Court to assaulting two gardai, and to public drunkenness and threatening and abusive behaviour.
The incident took place outside Light nightclub in Blanchardstown on March 7 last.
Garda Sergeant Maria Callaghan previously said that gardai saw Hand running away from door staff at Light nightclub. She was very drunk, and kicked and hit out at gardai. She also tried to bite Garda Grainne Cafferkey.
The sergeant said Hand was extremely aggressive and kicked at the windows in a patrol car.
Defence solicitor Valerie Buckley said Hand, a full-time carer, was raised by her grandmother, and she had just heard that her granny was terminally ill with a heart condition.
The court heard Hand was "devastated" by this news, and took a cocktail of drink and drugs to try to forget her pain.
