A YOUNG man who hid €8,000 worth of cannabis herb and cannabis resin in ice cream containers in his bedroom has been ordered to work with the probation services.
Paul Cullen (21) was smoking the drugs at the time and was also supplying his friends.
Judge Anthony Halpin ordered Cullen to enter into a 12-month probation bond.
The defendant had admitted before Tallaght District Court to possession of cannabis herb and cannabis resin, as well as having the drugs for sale or supply.
The incident took place in his home at Donomore Park in Tallaght on December 17, 2011.
Garda Sergeant Bernard Jones said gardai obtained a search warrant and searched Cullen's family home.
Gardai found cannabis herb and cannabis resin in the defendant's bedroom.
Sgt Jones said cannabis herb was found in ice-cream containers, in a laundry bag under his bed, in a bedside locker and in a chest of drawers in the room.
Sgt Jones said the street value of the drug was €8,000.
Defence solicitor Eddie O'Connor said the defendant was smoking cannabis at the time and was supplying the drug to his friends.
