Boy (16) faces robbery trial
A 16-YEAR-OLD boy has been sent forward for trial for an alleged gang attack where a man was kicked and punched in the head during a robbery.
The boy, who is on bail, was served with a book of evidence at the Children's Court earlier this week.
Judge Clare Leonard made an order sending the teen forward for trial at the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
He is accused of robbery, assault causing harm, theft and criminal damage near the North Circular Road, in Dublin, on January 3 last year.
Judge queries attack charges
A JUDGE has questioned the need to prosecute a 16-year-old boy, who denies attacking three HSE staff at the Ballydowd Special Care Unit, Dublin, in 2009.
The boy, who is on bail, now lives with his father.
Judge Clare Leonard told the Children's Court: "The benefit for a juvenile in prosecuting is that it is done quickly so it relates somewhat to the incident.
"I am asking what purpose is being served. I do not see any sense in it."
The case was adjourned until next week for mention.
