A MEMBER of bar staff at a Dublin pub produced a flick knife while a row was taking place on the premises, it is alleged.
Guangyu Lu (31) is accused of having the knife at a Rathfarnham pub.
The case against him was adjourned when he appeared in Tallaght District Court.
Lu, with an address at Kilakee Lawns, Firhouse is charged with unlawful possession of the knife in an incident at The Orchard pub, Butterfield Avenue.
The DPP is consenting to summary trial of the case in the District Court. Outlining the case, Sgt Carmel Henry told the court that gardai responded to a call that a man had a knife in the pub at 12.20pm on December 20.
"It is alleged that two males were involved in an argument and the defendant took a knife out of his pocket," said Sgt Henry.
"It was a flick knife but it didn't open," she told the court.
Judge James McDonnell accepted jurisdiction, meaning the case will be dealt with at District Court level where the potential penalties should the accused be convicted are less severe than at the Circuit Court.
Judge McDonnell adjourned the case to February 9.
