A banned motorist caught drink-driving for the fourth time has been jailed for six months.

Joseph Lynch (30) was also banned from driving for 10 years.

The father-of-three had "no excuse" for driving his girlfriend's car while banned and over the limit, Dublin District Court was told.

Judge Brian O'Shea said Lynch, who had already been banned from driving for 10 years, had reached "the end of the line".

Plasterer Lynch, of Killinarden Heights, Tallaght, admitted drink- driving and having no insurance or licence last October 28.

Excuse

Gda Sgt Niall Murphy said Lynch was stopped at the Killinarden House car park.

He had five previous convictions for uninsured driving and three for drink-driving.

"It was his girlfriend's car, he got into it and drove it. He's not going to offer any excuse," said Jeremy Ring, defending.

Judge O'Shea told the court: "Driving with no insurance while disqualified and while drunk, as far as I am concerned, puts this right up at the top end of the scale in gravity."
