Alleged attack victim needed 20 stitches to head wound
A YOUNG man allegedly hit another man over the back of the head with a bottle.
Linas Nutautas (20) is accused of leaving the victim needing up to 20 stitches to the wound.
Judge David McHugh adjourned the matter to the end of February to allow Mr Nutautas to speak to his solicitor.
The accused, of Foxborough Avenue in Lucan, appeared before Blanchardstown District Court charged with assaulting another man at Foxborough Avenue in Lucan on August 21, 2014.
He is also accused of public drunkenness and threatening and abusive behaviour.
The court heard the DPP has directed summary disposal of the matters in the District Court where the penalties upon conviction are less severe.
Outlining the allegation for the court, Sergeant Mary Doherty said it will be alleged Mr Nutautas hit the victim with a bottle on the back of the head.
Sgt Doherty alleged the victim required up to 20 stitches to a wound on the back of the neck and ears.
A medical report of the victim's alleged injuries was handed into court.
Judge McHugh accepted jurisdiction, meaning the matter will remain in the district court.
Mr Nutautas has not yet indicated a plea to the charges.
