€1k fine for court punch-up
A MAN who got into a fist fight with members of another family outside a Dublin courthouse has claimed that they may have provoked the argument.
Michael Power (24) has been ordered by a judge to stay away from the town of Balbriggan in North County Dublin, where the other family lives.
A court heard that members of Power's family are feuding with another Traveller family.
The defendant, of Rivermill View in Navan, Co Meath, admitted before Swords District Court to affray.
The incident took place outside Swords courthouse on October 10 last year.
Judge Grainne Malone fined Power €1,000 and sentenced him to six months in prison, suspended for 18 months.
