Consumer law broken

A TOTAL of 130 firms were reprimanded by the National Consumer agency who took legal actions for breach of consumer law last year.

The majority of the actions involved shops failing to display prices.

The firms prosecuted include supermarket giants, smaller retail outlets and car dealers.

Of the 130 actions taken, 85 fixed payment notices were issued to retailers in relation to failure to display prices, which resulted in a penalty payment of €300 in each case.
