Coastguard chopper saved
Fishermen have welcomed the Government's decision to rethink the downgrading of a coastguard helicopter service.
Campaigners warned of tragedies at sea after the Department of Transport announced cost-saving plans to reduce the Waterford base to a daylight operation.
But the department has now revealed it is considering a new contract which would allow for a round-the-clock service to continue at all four bases across the country.
Ebbie Sheehan, of The Irish Fishermen's Organisation, said: "If they've changed their mind it would be welcome. It would mean peace of mind for people going to sea and relatives left on the shore."
China in new net censoring
Email accounts belonging to foreign journalists in China appeared to have been hacked and Google's Chinese search engine was intermittently blocked.
In the latest troubles to hit China's heavily censored internet market, the Yahoo accounts of at least three journalists and an analyst became inaccessible and they were greeted with messages saying, "We've detected an issue with your account".
Sensitivity about internet security has run high since Google announced in January that it might leave China after a series of cyber-attacks and complaints about censorship.

Los Angeles County District Attorney's spokeswoman Jane Robison said Steven Burky (37) pleaded no contest to two counts of stalking the celebrity couple and their children.
She said a judge found Burky not guilty of the offences by reason of insanity following a hearing.
Man flees cops, jumps into jail
A motorist fleeing police abandoned his car, jumped over a fence -- and landed in a prison yard.
Police in Cleveland, Ohio, said after a chase that reached speeds of 90mph, the driver and a passenger scaled the fence, apparently unaware it was on the outside of the state women's prison. They were arrested.
The duo were arrested along with two other passengers who also tried to flee.
