Clinton arrives on Irish visit Spanish flights hit by strikes Richest nations 'let down poor' Gav's blessing to Church date

Former president Bill Clinton will use a visit to Northern Ireland today to promote the prospect of US investment in the region.

His two-day trip to attend events in Ireland north and south comes ahead of a major Northern Ireland investment conference in Washington next month to be hosted by Hillary Clinton.

Mr Clinton will be in Derry to meet business leaders.

He will travel on to Dublin where he will open the Clinton Institute for American studies at University College Dublin.

Spanish flights hit by strikes

Air passengers faced severe disruption on flights to and from Spain today because of a 24-hour general strike by Spanish workers.

Ryanair scrapped most of its flights to Spain and all of its internal ones in the country, while easyJet cancelled around half its Spanish flights.

Ryanair, which last week was forced to axe 250 flights due to strike action by French air traffic controllers, called on EU leaders to act against those disrupting flights.

The strike was due to end at midnight.

Richest nations 'let down poor'

Developing countries attacked the world's richest nations for failing to increase financial aid.

Members of the Group of 77 said developed countries were responsible for challenges like global warming that the poorer nations were now grappling with.

Egyptian foreign minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit said many developed countries had failed "to fulfil their financial commitments".

Gav's blessing to Church date

Charlotte Church has revealed she asked ex-fiance Gavin Henson's permission to date new boyfriend Jonathan Powell.

The singer has two children Ruby, three, and Dexter, 20 months, with the rugby player and Strictly Come Dancing contestant -- but they split in May and she has since been seeing fellow musician Powell.

Church said: "I kind of asked Gav's permission in a way. Nothing ever went on between me and Johnny while we were still together."
