Clerys to re-open in time for Christmas
THE iconic Clerys department store is to re-open in time for the Christmas rush.
The Dublin city centre building has been closed to the public since July when it was damaged by flooding.
The US owners of Clerys, the Gordon Brothers, revealed the O'Connell Street store will be back in business in time for the festive season.
A date for the re-opening is expected to be announced shortly.
The news comes as it emerged that London fashion retailer Selfridges is bidding to take over Dublin's other iconic department store, Arnotts.
The store's IBRC loans are being sold as part of the bank's Evergreen portfolio.
Selfridges, owned by Canadian billionaire Galen Weston, is through to the second round of bidding for the loans, it has been reported.
Weston also owns the flagship Grafton Street store Brown Thomas.
