RORY'S JOY: No1 celebrates with a laugh on tennis court
THIS is how Rory McIlroy celebrated becoming the world's No1 golfer -- leaping from the crowd to help out girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki on the tennis court.
Dressed down in jeans and a jumper, Rory had fans in stitches at Madison Square Garden in New York during Caroline's exhibition match with Maria Sharapova.
At one point, he pretended to be hitting a drive with his tennis racquet.
Rory (22) jetted in to the Big Apple from Florida fresh from his win in the Honda Classic to become No1 in the world.
And the sporting star showed onlookers that his talent doesn't just lie on the golf course, hitting a classy backhand to win a point against Miss Sharapova for Caroline (21).
"Never thought I'd play tennis at Madison Square Garden -- had a great time watching Caroline and Maria out there," Rory told his followers on Twitter.
The power duo signed hundreds of autographs and were happy to pose for pictures with fans after the match.
Meanwhile, Rory's ex-girlfriend Holly Sweeney seems to have put the past behind her to congratulate her former flame.
"Well done Rory -- the hard work paid off," she said online.
