Clarke to quit NITB

The boss of the Northern Ireland Tourist Board Alan Clarke has announced he is retiring at the end of September after 13 years as chief executive.

His tenure saw the MTV awards go to Belfast, the opening of Titanic Belfast and last week’s successful Giro D’Italia event.

NITB chairman Howard Hastings thanked Mr Clarke for his “excellent work” saying: “The list of achievements on his watch is extraordinary.”

The departing chief said he was “fortunate to have helped steer tourism through a £300m (€367m) investment”.
