City centre lights up for Christmas
IT's beginning to look a lot like Christmas - even though it's only November.
Hundreds of people turned out on Henry Street to watch the festive lights being turned on for the first time last night.
Rising star Zena Donnelly entertained the huge crowds at the 'Dublin at Christmas' event, supported by Dublin Town.
The talented 13-year-old is due to hit the big screen this month when she stars alongside Liam Neeson, Pierce Brosnan and Kylie Minogue in A Christmas Star.
The teen is no stranger to being in the spotlight however, having performed alongside Whitney Houston when she was just nine.
Christmas characters joined the crowds of people eager to get the festive season started.
Revellers also has the chance to climb into a giant snow-globe and have their picture taken.
The band The High Kings also took to the stage during the event.
Last night's festive fun marked the beginning of a whirlwind of activities taking place in the city during the build up to Christmas.
This Sunday at 4pm the lights on Grafton Street will be turned on. Event organiser Dublin Town have promised a "very special guest" at the ceremony.
