Chilean miners' families to sue

Relatives of 27 of the 33 men trapped in a Chilean gold and copper mine are suing their bosses for k7.2m.

The families of the miners, trapped since since August 5, will demand a similar amount from Chile's government in the next few days, their lawyer, Edgardo Reinoso, said.

Relatives accuse owners of the San Esteban mining company of negligence and breaches of several workplace and mine safety regulations. "We families want them to pay all the damages, and we want justice," said Elvira Valdivia, whose husband, Mario Sepulveda, will have to spend his 40th birthday underground on Monday.

Surprise for X Factor fans

X Factor bosses are to screen the longest edition of the show yet -- with a bum-numbing two-and-a-half hour marathon.

The programme, on October 9, will be the first of the live shows for this series as the 12 finalists take to the stage, and ITV says it may contain a "surprise" for viewers. Despite the length, it will not clash with BBC's rival show, Stricly Come Dancing.
