INTERNATIONAL aid charity Unicef Ireland has teamed up with Ikea to launch a new soft toy campaign.
The charity, which is currently providing aid to devastated regions of the Philippines, said that it was coming closer to its aim of getting every child in the world to school.
As part of the campaign, which was launched by RTE TV children's presenter Emma O'Driscoll, above, €1 will be donated by the Swedish furniture giant to Unicef every time a customer purchases a soft toy, children's book or kids meal. It will run over Christmas and until January 4.
The campaign has been set up to provide quality education to children living in poverty. Over the last 10 years Ikea has created a children's book based on one of its soft toys.
Executive director of Unicef Ireland Peter Power said: "When a child, no matter what part of the world they live in, receives a quality education they are given the opportunity to fulfil their potential and the results transform whole societies."
