Cannabis user was sharing with mates
A RESTAURANT worker caught with cannabis was buying it in bulk and sharing it with his friends, a court heard.
Jason Fairbrother (21) was found with the drug after gardai searched him when they caught him slouched over in a car.
Judge David McHugh ordered Fairbrother to complete the restorative justice programme.
If he successfully completes the programme, Judge McHugh said he would strike out the charges.
The defendant, of Grove Road in Finglas, admitted before Blanchardstown District Court to possession of cannabis as well as having the drug for sale or supply at Griffith Road in Finglas on March 12 last.
Sergeant Mary Doherty said gardai came across Fairbrother, slouched over in his car. There was a strong smell of cannabis and when the car was searched gardai found three bags of cannabis, with a value of €196.
Defence solicitor Kelly Breen said Fairbrother developed a problem with cannabis a number of years ago, and he was buying it in bulk and sharing it with his friends because it was cheaper.
Ms Breen also said the defendant is no longer smoking cannabis.
