Bus drunk gets wish and is sent to prison

A FATHER of two arrested for being drunk on a bus has been jailed after asking a judge to send him to prison so he can deal with his alcohol problem.

Glen O'Connor (24) was sentenced to two months when he appeared at Dublin District Court.

O'Connor, of Cherryorchard Avenue, Ballyfermot, pleaded guilty to public intoxication and causing a breach of the peace last September 28.

Judge Michael Walsh was told he refused to pay and told the driver: "F**k off. I'll get you again."

When gardai arrived, they found him asleep.

"Mr O'Connor is specifically asking the court to give him some term of imprisonment because his alcohol addiction is getting the better of him," defence solicitor Lorraine Stephens said.
