Britvic loses some fizz

Drinks maker Britvic, which owns brands such as Club Orange, Ballygowan and MiWadi, said the soft drinks market declined in Ireland during the year, both in volume and value.

It said it lost some market share during its financial year that ended in September, with its revenue here falling 6.3pc to £128.3m (€162.3m).

On a constant currency basis, revenue was down 4.5pc. "The carbonates category in particular was very competitive and saw a significant amount of price-led promotions," said the company.
