'Brian will not be joining Boyzone', says star Keith
Keith Duffy has poured cold water on reports that Brian McFadden could join Boyzone. He said talk of the former Westlife star joining the line-up when they tour for their 25th anniversary next year was "misplaced speculation".
"No. Shane Lynch made some sort of statement about Brian supporting us on tour next year and then people decided to turn it into 'Brian joining Boyzone'," said Duffy.
He said his Boyzlife pal is pencilled in to join Boyzone on a few of their dates in 2018, but only as a supporting artist.
Boyzone are currently recording their 25th anniversary album.
"We're going in a completely different direction with it so it's very exciting," said Duffy.
"We're just trying to find a whole new sound.
"Unfortunately, the Brother album, which I believe was our best work, never really got much radio play.
"I think some of our best music is on that, but if you're not getting radio play, nobody's ever going to hear your songs.
"If we get the radio play with the new sound and the new songs, it could be very, very successful."
Duffy recently finished touring with McFadden with a string of Boyzlife concerts in venues all over Britain.
When they appeared on TV show Loose Women this week, Duffy said they had been inundated with invitations for appearances at corporate events.
Duffy teed off at the Marks & Spencer Marie Keating Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic at the K-Club earlier this week.
Boyzone frontman Ronan Keating's mother, Marie, died of cancer in 1998.
