Boy lashed out at racist taunt

A 15-year-old schoolboy has admitted attacking and injuring a youth after racist insults were made to one of his friends.

The teenager pleaded guilty to assaulting a then 16-year-old boy in south Dublin, on a date in September 2009.

Dublin Children's Court heard the victim was hospitalised and suffered a broken cheek bone.

The boy was remanded on bail for a pre-sentence probation report.

Hendrix made of plectrums

A unique mosaic of guitar legend Jimi Hendrix made from 5,000 plectrums goes on show today.

The portrait consisting entirely of Fender plectrums was created by Manchester-based artist Ed Chapman to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

It is being unveiled at London's Abbey Road Studios ahead of the charity's Sound & Vision music heritage auction tonight.

Clarification

In an article on page 6 of Monday's paper it was incorrectly reported that Declan Regan, a victim of a fatal road traffic accident, was a father of two.

We are happy to clarify that Mr Regan had no children, and apologise to his family for the error.
