Bosses' sick pay fury

EMPLOYERS have slammed Government plans to pass on the costs of the first four weeks of sick pay directly to employers.

The State currently pays benefit to employees who are unable to work due to illness. Social Protection Minister Joan Burton said the new plans would save up to €89m.

However, IBEC's Brendan McGinty said that the move was all about a "dash for cash" by the State.
