Bohs fan gestured at rivals
A DRUNKEN football fan arrested for making obscene hand gestures at opposing supporters has been told he must carry out community service to avoid a jail sentence.
Bohemians fan Gavin Hanley (23) was caught in a group of men making the gestures at Shamrock Rovers supporters while weaving in and out of traffic outside Dalymount Park after a game.
He had the case against him adjourned for a community service suitability report after he pleaded guilty to public order offences at Dublin District Court.
Hanley, of McKee Park, Cabra, was charged with public intoxication and breach of the peace in the incident outside the Bohemians' ground.
"He is aware that it is alcohol that is causing him difficulties," Hanley's solicitor said.
"He was at the match and had more to drink than was advisable."
