Blooming marvellous as visitors hit 90,000

A WET start to June failed to deter thousands of people from bracing the outdoors at this year's Bloom Festival.

The last day of the festival saw crowds pouring into Dublin's Phoenix Park to see the work of some of the country's top garden designers.

More than 90,000 people attended the festival, which is organised by Bord Bia and is now in its ninth year.

Top floral artists, garden designers and botanical artists were all awarded for their exceptional work as 123 Bloom medals were handed out.

Visitors were treated to 25 unique gardens, some of which will be rebuilt at various locations in the coming weeks. Pictured at Bloom yesterday were Leah (6) and Aoife (3) O'Shea from Dunshaughlin, Meath.
