Birthday-bash driver banned

A YOUNG man who got into his car to collect his friends -- who said they had been attacked while out socialising -- has been put off the road for two years.

Mark Sheehan (22) had been out celebrating his birthday with his friends and had gone home, but got back into his car to pick up his friends after they said they'd been assaulted.

Swords District Court heard that Sheehan, of Ladycove, Palmer Road, Rush, who turned 22 on Saturday, spent the weekend of his birthday in custody.

He was fined €1,350 and banned from driving for two years.

Teen accused of bag snatch

A TEENAGER has appeared in court accused of snatching a handbag and purse from a former friend.

Verschoyle, of Seamount Park, Malahide, appeared before Swords District Court charged with robbery.

The alleged incident took place at Main Street in Malahide around 6pm on November 24 last year.
