Biker killed on same road as tragic sister
A YOUNG biker who was killed in a crash this weekend will be buried next to his sister who died on the same stretch of road 14 years ago.
Michael O'Reilly (31) was fatally injured when he collided head-on with another motorcyclist near his home in Ballinagh, Co Cavan.
But just 2km down the road from the horrific crash, Michael's sister Jacinta (21) was killed in another accident just over a decade ago.
The pair were extremely close and a family friend said that it was "so hard to believe that the family have been hit by tragedy a second time" .
"He was best friends with his sister. Her death went very hard on him. He never got over her death," his aunt said.
Mr O'Reilly worked as a qualified plumber and welder in the family business O'Reilly Mechanical Services.
His parents Seamus and Eilish are being comforted by their five sons, one daughter and their extended family.
The second biker involved in the incident near the Lidl supermarket around 8pm on Friday is also believed to be in his late 20s and remains in hospital.
Gardai are investigating after a biker in his late 40s also lost his life over the weekend. It is believed that he was involved in a collision with a car near Skibbereen, Co Cork.
Separately, elderly driver Beatrice Toolin (82) was fatally injured when her car hit a wall near Boyle in Co Roscommon.
And a fourth life was lost when a car smashed into a wall in Clare.
