Bank unveils forecast

IRELAND'S unemployment rate is due to peak at 14pc by the end of 2010, according to the latest economic forecast from Ulster Bank.

The update warned that it was "extremely important" for the Irish authorities to provide clarity as soon as possible on plans for Anglo and the total cost to the Exchequer.

Ulster Bank noted that overall consumer spending is almost certainly going to record a positive second quarter.

It has revised upwards its economic forecasts for this year, predicting annual GDP growth of 1pc, up from -0.5pc previously.
