Bank pursues man for €7.8m

A businessman is being pursued by a bank for €7.8m summary judgment orders over failure by a company to repay loans.

Danske Bank, which took over the business of National Irish Bank, has brought its proceedings against Seamus Coyne, Mabestown, The Ward, Co Dublin, a director of TC Coyne Ltd. The bank claims it loaned €8.15m to the company in April 2008 and that Mr Coyne is now liable.



Captain killed in pirate attack

Guyana's Fisheries minister said a boat captain was killed in a pirate attack off the South American country.

Robert Persaud said the 39-year-old captain drowned in the attack. He said the pirates came from the direction of Venezuela.



Burglar cooked meal in kitchen

Police in a US town said someone broke into a restaurant and cooked a chicken and rice dish before fleeing -- leaving behind a pile of dirty dishes. They said the hungry burglar broke into the Matsu Sushi Grill in Hillsdale, New Jersey.
