AVIATIONLufthansa's Dublin HQ sets passenger record
AIRLINE Lufthansa carried the highest number of passengers in the airline's history at its base in Dublin last year.
The record-breaking 2011 figure of 299,906 shows an increase of almost 19.5pc on the figures for 2010.
The company also announced three summer services for Ireland from Dublin and Knock.
Christian Schindler, Lufthansa's General Manager UK & Ireland, (above) said that it was remarkable passenger growth out of Dublin in 2011, considering the downturn.
Overall in 2011, a total of 106.3 million passengers chose to fly with the airlines that make up the Lufthansa Group (Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian Airlines, bmi and Germanwings).
