Aughinish profits up
IRISH Alumina refinery Aughinish returned to profits after revenues almost doubled to $496.9m (€344.9m).
The largest alumina refinery in Europe, Rusal Aughinish recorded a pre-tax profit of $24.5m (¤16.9m) in the 12 months to the end of December.
The positive figures follow a devastating loss of $26.3m (¤18.2m) in 2009. The principal activity of the company, located on the Shannon estuary, is the production and sale of alumina.
The pre-tax profit recorded last year is the first time the refinery has recorded a pre-tax profit since 2007.
