Assault victim in critical condition
A 29-year-old man was "critically ill" in hospital today after an assault in Dublin.
The man is believed to have been thrown over railings near the Irish Life building at Lr Abbey St and to have suffered serious head injuries.
He was on a life support machine at the Mater Hospital today.
A garda spokesman said the man was injured after an "altercation" between two men at 10.30pm last night.
"One of them received serious head injuries and was taken to hospital," a garda spokesman said.
The badly injured man is understood to be from Co Kildare.
Gardai said that no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
The assault is being investigated by gardai from Store St station.
The scene was sealed off today pending investigations by scenes of crime officers.
