Arrest in Cork death probe
GARDAI investigating the death of a man whose blood-stained body was discovered in his Cork home have arrested a man for impeding their probe.
The arrest -- which took place early today -- came as gardai are expected to upgrade their investigation to a murder probe amid indications today Don Geasley (42) suffered severe head injuries in an assault.
A young man was arrested by Macroom gardai shortly before 6am on suspicion of obstructing an official investigation.
He is being questioned at Macroom Garda Station.
Garda patrols in the area have been stepped up in the wake of the discovery of the body at 10am in the terraced house in the Masseytown area of Macroom, Co Cork, just 100m from the garda station.
Mr Geasley was found in a pool of blood with at least one injury to his head clearly visible.
Gardai stressed that the nature of their investigation will be determined by findings of post mortem today .
However, one Herald source indicated that the injuries sustained by the man are regarded as unlikely to have been sustained in a fall.
Detectives are investigating reports that a house party had been staged in the man's home on Wednesday evening.
There was no sign of forced entry at the house.
