Arm found on beach
GARDAI have launched a probe after a severed arm was washed up on a Dublin beach.
A man out walking his dog made the discovery on Dollymount Strand on the northside last Tuesday evening.
Forensic tests carried out by State pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy confirmed that the right arm was that of a male and could have been in the water for up to three weeks.
The tests are believed to have shown the arm was deliberately detached from the rest of the body, raising fears the victim may have been dismembered before the body was dumped.
Police forces from several jurisdictions will be called on to help the investigation.
