One of the Irish students critically injured in the Berkeley balcony crash last month is set to be moved to the same facility where her friends are recovering.

Aoife Beary "is scheduled to move from Standford to the nearby Valley Medical Rehab Centre in Santa Clara within the week", according to the 'Friends of Aoife Beary' Facebook page.

The positive post also reveals that the Beary family have been reunited in California this week as Aoife is "making steps forward towards recovery".

Six students were killed on June 16 as they celebrated Aoife's 21st birthday when a balcony collapsed.

The former Loreto College Foxrock student is one of five of the seven students injured in the collapse still being treated in hospital.

Hannah Waters (21), from Castleknock, and Clodagh Cogley (21) from Milltown, are both under going rehabilitation for the injuries they received.

Aoife will now be joining Hannah and Clodagh at Valley Medical, according to this evening's statement.

"The road to recovery is still long and the family would again like to extend their thanks for all prayers, messages and positive thoughts being sent their way," it said.

A fundraising account on iDonate.ie has been created for Aoife to cover the costs of her recovery - particularly as regards her brain injury - and could take "a matter of months or years". A bank account has also been set up that people can directly donate to.

Niall Murray (21), from Rathfarnham and Jack Halpin (21), from Rathmines are also still receiving treatment in hospitals in San Francisco.

Conor Flynn (22) was discharged from hospital two weeks ago remains in the San Francisco Bay area as he unable to fly due to a punctured lung.

Sean Fahey (22) has already returned to Ireland.
