Who needs red carpet galas when you've got the muddy fields of Stradbally?

A plethora of famous faces, including Amy Huberman, Yvonne Connolly, Madeline Mulqueen, Holly Carpenter and Andrew Scott are expected to attend the Electric Picnic this weekend.

MTV beauty Laura Whitmore is also rumoured to be flying in for the occasion.

After what felt like an eternity waiting, the stage times for the Main Stage and the Body and Soul area were released yesterday.

Friday night will see Ham Sandwich, The Coronas, the iconic Grace Jones and Underworld rock out on the Main Stage.

Day-ticket holders will love Saturday's line-up at the Main Stage, with George Ezra, Hot Chip, Sam Smith and Blur wowing the crowds.

The festival will be going out with a bang on Sunday, with The Boomtown Rats, Interpol, Manic Street Preachers and Florence and the Machine all set for the Main Stage.

Body and Soul goes on until 3.30am each night, with acts like Bleeding Heart Pigeons, Daithi and Vaudou Game.

The Rankin's Wood Stage also has a great line-up, with Gavin James, Le Galaxie, We Cut Corners and Young Wonder performing at the festival.

As ever, the weather is the main concern for festival-goers and so far the forecast for the weekend is pretty decent.

The temperature is set to be around 15 degrees for the weekend and it'll be mostly dry, with a few showers expected on Sunday.

Gallery weekend

A new visual arts festival, called Dublin Gallery Weekend, is taking place in Dublin from Friday, September 11 to Sunday, September 13.

Over one weekend, more than 30 contemporary art galleries across the city will throw open their doors and invite visitors to experience the fantastic pieces on offer.

A series of events - including artist and curator talks, walking tours, late openings and workshops - will take place over the weekend and almost everything will be free.
