'Amy effect' puts the shine on shoe firm's profits
A shoe firm is reaping the rewards of the 'Amy effect' with profits increasing more than 29-fold to €465,000 last year.
This follows new accounts from Budda Brand, the firm behind Amy Huberman's shoe collections, showing that its accumulated profits increased from €385,432 to €850,468 in the 12 months to the end of January 31 2014.
The massive leap in profits at Budda Brand Industry Ltd takes in 10 months of sales of Amy's first Bourbon collection that was launched in April 2013.
Prior to the firm enjoying the full effects of the dividend from the author and actress, its increase in profits for the year totalled €15,745 in the 12 months to the end of January 2013.
That year took in just a number of weeks of the first Huberman-inspired designed shoe which was launched in December 2012.
The mum-of-two debuted on the Irish retail scene with the design of her American Beauty leather ankle boot, and in April 2013 the actor and author launched her first 15-style Bourbon collection.
Shoes in the first collection are named after Amy's favourite movies, including Mean Girls, PS I Love You, The Five-Year Engagement and Singing in the Rain.
The actress has been collaborating with Castleblaney brothers Jim and Barry McArdle who are also behind Tommy Bowe's Lloyd & Pryce mens' footwear range.
