Airport's high hopes

London's newest airport believes Irish air travellers will help it hit its target of one million passengers by the end of next year.

London Southend now offers a sixth option to Irish air passengers flying to the British capital, in addition to Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton and London City.

The Stobart Group, new owner of the airport, hopes that some Irish sports fans travelling to the Olympic Games in London will choose to travel via Southend to avoid the congestion expected at some London airports.
