Addict had syringe to terrify shop rob victims
A woman whose family introduced heroin to Ireland carried out a string of robberies, a Dublin court has heard.
Ennis Dunne (40) is a member of the "infamous Dunne family", her barris- ter told Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
She grew up watching her parents abuse heroin before being taken into care, Derek Cooney said.
His client, of Maple House, North Circular Road, pleaded guilty to five counts of robbery of pharmacies and a hair salon in Dublin between April last year and last June. She has 58 previous convictions.
Dunne made off with a total of €1,760 in cash and €300 worth of tablets, though the latter were recovered by gardai.
She threatened terrified staff members with a syr- inge, a broken bottle and scissors, the court heard.
She returned to the same hair salon on two occasions to rob it.
Mr Cooney said Dunne, who is now at university, was so desperate for drugs that she would "walk on broken glass" to get them.
The court heard she was also being threatened by people she owed money.
Judge Elma Sheahan adjourned sentencing until April 21.
