Accused in serious assault case facing trial

A man accused of falsely imprisoning another in the premises of a security company has been sent for trial.

Gezim Idrizi (33) is also accused of seriously assaulting the same man in an incident just over two years ago.

The accused, of Castle- field Park, Clonsilla, app-eared before Blanchardstown District Court charged with falsely imprisoning a man at a unit in Rosemount Business Park, Ballycoolin, on February 1, 2016.

Mr Idrizi is also charged with seriously assaulting the same man during the incident.

Caution

A state solicitor said the book of evidence had been served on the accused, who goes forward for trial to the present sittings of Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Judge David McHugh gave Mr Idrizi the formal alibi caution.

His lawyer said the accused was not making a legal aid application at this stage.

Judge McHugh ordered that a video copy of an interview gardai conducted with Mr Idrizi be furnished to his solicitor.

The accused has not yet indicated a plea to the charges.
