MORE than 820,000 viewers switched on to TV3's presidential debate on Tuesday, the station has revealed.
The average viewing figure was 367,000 throughout the 90-minute duration, with some viewers choosing to switch between the debate and RTE's Masterchef programme.
The programme attracted significantly fewer viewers than the Late Late Show last Friday night, which was watched by 1.45 million people.
A spokesperson for TV3 said the station was very happy with the figures, describing the event as a "very big deal for us".
Dana lodges RTE complaint
INDEPENDENT candidate Dana Rosemary Scallon has lodged a complaint with RTE over an alleged lack of coverage of her presidential campaign.
The former MEP has accused the State broadcaster of ignoring her and has requested that station bosses analyse its output to see how much air time has been devoted to her.
The Donegal singer's brother John Browne described the coverage devoted to his sister's campaign as "an absolute disgrace".
