€5.8m Lotto jackpot winner claims prize
The winner of the weekend Lotto jackpot worth more than €5.8m has contacted the National Lottery to claim their prize.
Rumours circulated over the weekend that a group of Dublin gardai had won while in Limerick on their Christmas party.
However, the winning ticket did not belong to a syndicate of officers from the capital, according to sources.
The ticket, a €5 Quickpick, was bought at the General Post Office in Cecil St, Limerick, on Saturday.
The winning numbers were 4, 16, 18, 24, 32, 35 and the bonus was 6.
A National Lottery spokesman confirmed that the winner had been in touch with its claims team yesterday.
The massive prize of €5,868,553 is the second big Lotto windfall in Limerick within months.
One person scooped almost €3m in September after buying a ticket at Coughlan's Gala store on Quinlan Street.
This week, National Lottery reps visited the GPO in Limerick to celebrate the latest win with staff, including manager Roger McMahon.
