3,000 want to adopt 'dead' dog

A stray dog who survived an attempt to put him to sleep at an animal shelter has become a canine celebrity.

Thousands are seeking to adopt Wall-E and he has appeared on US television.

He was among several dogs abandoned at the Sulphur Animal Shelter near Oklahoma.

A local vet tried to euthanise the puppy due to overcrowding, but he somehow survived.

Now, 3,000 people have applied to adopt him.

Amanda Kloski, of the shelter, said: "We've gotten some applications that are obviously a no.

"But there's been some that I say, 'Wow, I wish they'd adopt me and my son!'."
