€250 fine after pedestrian hit
AN ELDERLY pedestrian was hit by a jeep's wing mirror as she was crossing a pedestrian crossing in a shopping centre car park, a court heard.
Tina Robertson (49) had stopped to allow the victim to cross the road, but did not realise that her car, a black Land Rover, was so big.
Judge Hugh O'Donnell convicted and fined Robertson €250. The judge did not ban her from driving.
The defendant, of St Martin's, Old Bray Road, Co Dublin, admitted before Dun Laoghaire District Court to careless driving at the car park of the Frascati Shopping Centre in Blackrock on May 25, 2013.
Swedish King in car crash
King Carl XVI Gustaf was involved in a car crash on his way to an airport in Stockholm but was unhurt, Sweden's royal palace said.
The 68-year-old king was in the back seat when his car collided with an oncoming vehicle making a left turn, palace spokeswoman Annika Sonnerberg said.
The king, his driver and an aide were all fine, the palace said. Ms Sonnerberg said she did not know whether anyone was injured in the other car.
Chopin's heart 'has signs of TB'
Polish medical experts say that the preserved heart of 19th century composer Frederic Chopin shows signs of tuberculosis and possibly some other lung disease.
The findings seem to corroborate Chopin's 1849 death certificate which said that the Polish-born musician died at the age of 39 in Paris from TB.
He rests in Paris, but his heart was brought to Warsaw and is kept as a national relic in a church. Sealed in a crystal jar, it was inspected in April by forensic experts.

"I'm embarrassing my kids by being in Bad Education," he said.
