1D star Niall heading home for nephew Theo's birthday
One Direction star Niall Horan is expected back to Ireland to help his nephew celebrate his first birthday following his brother Greg's coin controversy.
The star's sibling raised eyebrows by unveiling his idea for gold-plated coins costing €22 which will "commemorate" his son Theo's milestone birthday tomorrow.
The 20-year-old heart-throb has yet to comment on his older brother's idea but it will no doubt be a hot topic of conversation during his visit home.
Niall's due to head down to Mullingar as he enjoys a few days rest from his Where We Are tour, the Herald can reveal.
By a happy coincidence, his only nephew Theo will mark his milestone first birthday tomorrow, with uncle Niall there to help him blow out the candles.
"He's really looking forward to coming back to Ireland for a few days and just relaxing," said a source.
His brother Greg hit the headlines recently after revealing his plan to sell commemorative coins for his son's first birthday.
Included in the price of the coin is a follow from baby Theo's official Twitter account.
He said the coins will come "in a beautifully designed box" which could be personally delivered to some lucky 1D fans by members of the Horan family.
Using his son's Twitter account, he said that it was originally Niall's idea to create the coins for Theo's fans. He has over 200,000 followers on his account.
"My uncle just contacted my mum and suggested a coin with my head on one side and a love message on the other. WOW," was the first message posted.
It was followed with: "He says we should put some money aside from this to give to children's charities. My uncle is so nice and considerate."
Greg Horan did not respond to the Herald when contacted for comment.
