18pc in US say Obama Muslim

Americans increasingly are convinced -- incorrectly -- that President Barack Obama is a Muslim, and a growing number are thoroughly confused about his religion.

A poll finds that nearly one in five people, or 18pc, think Obama is Muslim, up from the 11pc who said so in March 2009. The proportion who correctly say he is a Christian is just 34pc.

The largest share of people, 43pc, said they don't know his religion, an increase from 34pc in early 2009.

Bears found in marijuana field

Police who uncovered two marijuana fields near the US-Canada border had to tread carefully: 13 black bears were wandering around the crops.

The fields of about 2,300 plants were found near Christina Lake, just a few miles from the border.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police said when police arrived, they found the bears. They said the bears were docile and obviously were used to humans. The property's two owners were arrested on charges of production and possession of a controlled substance.
