Malta fact file

Getting there: Ryanair flies from Dublin to the island’s Luqa Airport.

You can hire a car, but a taxi from the airport is fixed at €15 (go to the taxi counter) and there is a bus service, which is less than €1.

Where to stay: Phoenicia Hotel (www.phoeniciamalta.com). Although it’s swanky, it’s not stuffy, and special offers are regularly changing. Combined with a Ryanair cheapy, it’s a great break - and it won’t break the bank.
