Agent Vicki Mooney is hoping to broaden the appeal of plus-sized models.

Ireland's first plus-sized modelling agency V + Models was launched in June 2014 and has 22 girls on the books from size 14-22.

But the agency is about more than just meeting Ireland's demand for plus sized-models - Vicki is also campaigning to promote her girls as role models to inspire confidence in others.

"We are like a family in many ways," Vicki told the Herald. "For other modelling agencies it is just a job but we are not just plus-sized models, we are also trying to inspire people.

"I did my Ice Bucket Challenge video on Facebook, as usual I got soaked and we all had a giggle and I got the usual comments from everyone saying 'fair play'. Then some lady wrote, 'You're a beautiful woman, but get rid of all that fat'," Vicki explained.

"I was stunned. When you are doing a charity thing you just don't expect someone to make a comment like that," Vicki said. "Then eventually I just thought this whole shaming thing needs to stop."

"It's not just about saying 'don't judge somebody if they are overweight', it is about stopping shaming in its entirety," Vicki added. The campaign has received an overwhelmingly positive response and Vicki is now hoping to take it into schools.
