No Amy, Jennifer or Karen ... but Darren can't wait to take on Style Awards duty
Broadcaster Darren Kennedy has taken over presenting duties for the Peter Mark VIP Style Awards from Brendan Courtney, but insists there's no animosity between the pair.
Brendan has presented the awards for the last two years but Darren (31) is ready to take on the challenge of filling his stylish shoes.
"I think Brendan was an amazing host over the past few years but I'm going to do my own thing," he told the Herald.
"Obviously as a previous winner of the Most Stylish Man award it's nice to be back involved.
"It's without a shadow of a doubt Ireland's most glamorous night so I'm really looking forward to it.
"I have a new Spring Summer collection of suits in my range with Louis Copeland coming out in the next few months so I'll wear one of my own designs on the night," he added.
The Peter Mark VIP Style Awards nominees include Pippa O'Connor, Lisa Cannon and Claire Byrne in the Most Stylish Woman category; Aoife Walsh, Jenny Buckley and Stephanie Roche as Most Stylish Newcomer; and Brent Pope, Marty Morrissey and Nicky Byrne among those nominated for Most Stylish Man.
People can vote for their style choice online and the winners will be announced at the glamorous event at Dublin's Marker Hotel on April 24.
While it might come as a surprise that stalwarts of the Irish fashion scene like Amy Huberman and Jennifer Maguire have not been nominated, VIP boss Michael O'Doherty says they had to shake things up.
"We have mixed it up considerably this year which always makes it interesting and gives people someone new to vote for," he said.
"Amy has been off the scene for six or eight months to have a baby and write a book and she hasn't been out.
"Therefore it's hard to find the pictures to show her style."
"It gives us a chance, in the same way it has with Jennifer Maguire and Karen Koster - both of whom have been off the scene - to mix things up, and bring in new people," he added.
